Out of the Shadow – Prologue

Sometime in the 21st century, scientists found a way to mix human and animal DNA. They wanted to make the human race stronger, faster, immune to many diseases and accentuate human longevity. After successful tests, they released Edhen to the public. 90% of the world population went crazy for it. At first, everything was going well. Without any noticeable side effects, Edhen was a dream come true for the majority of the population. There was one side effect that manifested after 2 generations; the DNA of those who took Edhen was compromised, destroying the Y chromosomes.

The Edhenians were scared for their survival, so they searched for every remaining human who had not taken the vaccine to enslave them. They created Human camps to milk the male, and used the females in order to ensure a renewal of males and new females to ensure their survival by producing new babies, an infinite source of human slaves. Today, it is more than common to see those camps around and the black markets who are specializing in the trade of male humans are flourishing. However, the FERALS (First Edhenian Regiment Against Living Soul Slavery), a group of Edhenians, are focused on freeing Humankind from all this horror. Most of the time the FERALS operate in secret. The government continues to try to do everything in its power to hide their existence, but they’re only delaying the inevitable. Every day, more people join the cause…
A couple years ago, a member of The FERALS freed a little boy. He was chosen because of one particularity. His eyes glow in the dark. She keeps him a secret in her “house”, where she tries to figure out why that boy is special.
